Would I hold back on writing until the person is able to feel they can do almost anything and their brain has fully grown after age eight? Would I have many schools where students choose what to learn and when? And after a while, would I make the challenge become what they can accomplish as a unit or group or school against another such unit? If I wanted all those things and was considered “primitive” because that’s the kind of thing the ancient Celts did: what would I say to those who laughed.

I would argue that these schools taught specific memory techniques rather than memorizing unimportant data. This created a skill rather than a score on a test relating to an oft-propagated story. With this skill, memory was almost never a problem, and the silly regurgitation of trivialities passing as knowledge rarely happened in people’s daily lives. I would say that the creative urges to perform according to the disciplined use of musical instruments, dancing and singing or other acting skills and craftsmanship made the citizens confident who felt they could help and be useful in their social group. How would they react when I told them that clans taught a group responsibility that prevented a child from emotionally blackmailing a loving parent through his extended family; and that this led to lawful and respectful behavior? How would they react if I made it clear that the worship was real and that people were encouraged to experience the ever-increasing insights that the soul can offer.

How would they react when I challenged them to find a more egalitarian and nurturing group of people who truly valued women’s contributions and knew they were biologically superior to men or were at least equal? Yes, women have more stamina, don’t pass out when hurt, are better diplomats because they use all their brains and don’t get carried away with their egos so much. Endurance was key among warriors. The rearing of children was shared across an entire family unit, and the woman could be the leader in all areas of activity rather than simply thrown into a one-dimensional role of caregiver or adornment.

Obviously, they would not be able to point to a more talented group of scientists and teachers than that produced by the Druidic hierarchy. We are still learning or rediscovering what they knew. The ‘Lost Chord’ and the harmonics or healing techniques of shamans and dream dancers are worth our investigation. The holistic appreciation of nature and all the majesty of love and beauty that we have lost to macho models of greed and power must be rekindled. The beliefs of the current power-oriented churches versus the Celtic creed must be taken into account.
